November 2, 2009 On the Appalachian Trail in Shenandoah National Park
A red knapsack is a good idea 2 days after the opening of hunting season, even if you are hiking in a National Park.
To see more hiking/camping pictures here, you’ll have to wait a few more days.
To see more red, check out Carmi’s Thematic Photographic challenge this week.

Red or orange is always good when one is in the woods, no matter the season. For safety, and to make finding you easier if you should get lost.

That´s a perfect if you have to be in the woods during the hunting season. I rather stay far away then

What Quilly said! My kids used to wander the woods like they lived there! Oh yea… they DID live there… but sOMetimes I wished they were wearing RED when they were actually wearing blue or green….

That is a good idea (and a great photo) but even a swing set doesn’t deter hunters in Gary’s neck of the woods. Stay safe.

Looks like a beautiful hike. Great photo – the red is really striking against the mountain colors.

I love this photo because it captures a moment of such potential. You can practically feel the hike unrolling ahead…and everything necessary for a safe journey is in that bag. Beautiful.
