WWC#45: Permanently Temporary

The words this week are Temporary and Permanent
I am reminded of the lyrics to the RUSH song “Circumstances”

Plus ca change
Plus c’est la meme chose
The more that things change
The more they stay the same.

in a few years, this will be a distant memory

in a few years, this will be a distant memory

I look at my boys growing up so very fast, the oldest two becoming young men…and I know that it won’t be long before they are all grown and gone.

Children are both temporary (they grow up and move out) and permanent (they never cease to be your children).

Writing in snow (or sand) must be considered temporary literature.

Youthful beauty is fleeting, temporary, and mostly in the eye of the beholder.  I almost didn’t use this picture of my aging hand.  My wedding ring could use a cleaning.

Yet this picture shows a double meaning of permanent:  I don’t ever want to remove my wedding ring, and I don’t think it could be taken off if I tried!

 Bonus Pics from SnakeMaster’s Par-Tay:

Poor big brother was the starting post!

We told all the boys they had to be touching MusicMan before they started their Reptile Egg Hunt.  Poor MM…
At least it was only temporary!

And then there is the newest resident in Kcinnova’s World.  You will have to decide which word fits him!

Yes, SnakeMaster got a reptile for his birthday.  BUT NO SNAKES!!!!

  1. When I see those two words together – I think about the temporary support for the water heater, that became sort of permanent…. the extension cord never exchanged for permanent wiring in the garage…. the…
Nah, I’m venting – this is better taken up with the person whom it concerns, don’t you think?

  2. Hoo hoo, look at the snake cake!

  3. Those are great representations. I love that your children came to mind as both permanent and temporary. And what a great idea for a cake. I wish I’d thought of it when my kidlets were little. As for the reptile.. you’re braver than I!

  4. I can’t tell you how many times I took a picture this weekend for one word and then realized it could easily go for the other too. I love your ring! The cake is cool too. What’s the name of the new housemate?

  5. Your wedding ring looks similar to my lovely wife’s ring 🙂 Excellent pictures as usual. 🙂 Have fun with the “newt”-est addition 🙂

  6. Your hand isn’t aging! It looks way better than mine. I am pale and my hands always look dry and crappy lol.

Anyways, I love Snakeman’s cake!! I want a piece of cake now! 🙂

Great pics and wonderful take on the WWC this week… Kudos!

(Now I want Kudos… I think it must be lunch time)

  7. I love the way you did the cake.

Many years ago I did a six foot snake cake for MVP–I used round cakes and cut them into “C” shapes then used them to form the snake. It was a huge hit.

  8. I love the snake cake. Very creative!

I wanted to use my kids for my temporary and permanent but couldn’t figure out how to explain it. You did a lovely job!

  9. What a great cake for a snake enthusiast! Doesn’t that ring hurt your finger? It’s very pretty 🙂

  10. OH – you outdid yourself this week – I had tears in my eyes about how quickly time passes, and youth.
We sort of came up with the same idea when it came to “permanent” and marriage, didn’t we?
And that snake birthday cake – you are SO creative!

  11. Wow, you did a great job! I love your rings and that cake is cute.

  12. Great job on the words! All of those pics are great!

That newest addition would be VERY temporary around here. LOL

Gosh! Summer has me all screwed up! I missed playing WWC AGAIN! Great play, by the way! Good mood and thought invoking pictures!

Love the snake cake! Oh, happy day!

  14. That cake is incredible. You get bonus mom points for that one. It all goes so fast. It’s a cliche I know, but I’m living it. It goes fast.

  15. That all looks like fun! Even the lizard (my youngest son had 3 as pets).

  16. snake cake snake cake snake CAKE!

  17. That says it all. Life is a mix of the permanent and the temporary. Lovely post.

And thanks for stopping by my site 🙂

  18. This is a lovely post! Yes, with my sons now 35 and 39, I am most aware how important my memories of their growing years are to me.

BTW, my youngest had lizards as pets.
