THEN:

Yes, we were young – he was 23 and I was 21. *sigh*

Less than 4 years later, we had our first child:

This one is on my computer desk; it makes me smile every time I see it:

I didn’t notice the mac’n’cheese on H-J’s face until the photograph was developed. Oops!

NOW:

Much older, but still in love

17-1/2 years later, MusicMan is taller than his father

Perhaps that picture is not quite fair: MM had shoes on, ready to go to Homecoming last Saturday, and SuperDad was shoeless for an evening of college football. But MusicMan is taller!

  1. That is such a cool way you put together your “Then” and “Now”. I love it!! What a wonderful family you have, and it’s apparent the love… that’s for sure.

    Great photos!

  2. What a lovely progression of photos. You all have beautiful smiles. Your TALL son looks so much like his Dad too. And did you chose that last photo intentionally because it shows the words “then” and “now” on the wall poster?

  3. Love all the then and now family shots!

  4. Hilary, you have sharp eyes! I am sorry to say, I did not notice the words on the poster. Way to validate my group picture. 🙂

  5. Fantastic photos! What a beautiful family you have. Tell me, is raising 4 boys anything like it was portrayed in Malcolm in the Middle? I loved that show, but wondered if raising all those boys could really be that terrifying ; )

  6. I say it often: boys are FUN!
Raising girls would petrify me. I’ll wait for daughters-in-law and granddaughters, thankyouverymuch!

  7. whoa whoa WHOA your son is sooooooo tall!!!!!!!! Your sons all look a lot like their wonderful dad.
Wowie, 1987 eh? When’s your birthday, I bet you were born in 1966 like me….

  8. What a beautiful bunch!

  9. They grow so fast. No matter how I prevent their growth by ceasing all food consumption, the boogers still manage to flourish.

What a beautiful family! Long live boys!

  10. What a handsome bunch of boys….I love looking through now and then photos.

  14. What a beautiful family! I can’t get over how much your boys look like their father. My favorite shot is of them in 2000. 🙂

  15. Well done!! Thanks for the stroll down your memory lane. 🙂

  16. Oh sweetie…that was great!!!!! I love looking back on pictures and seeing how kids grow. :
