This and That

I recently heard from an old friend – a very sweet “thinking of you” e-mail. She told me that she has been keeping up with me via my blog. Sometimes it is funny to be reminded that people who actually KNOW me do read my blog. I wonder, does it actually sound like me when I write, or do I sound like someone else?

Last Thursday I purchased a 12-lb frozen turkey and set it on the bottom shelf of my refrigerator. I’m hoping it will be thawed by Thursday morning; I left it in a couple of plastic bags just in case it thaws really well! In the past I’ve only given the bird 3 days of fridge time and it was still half-frozen on Thanksgiving morning!

I’m going to have to cut back on blogging over the holidays. My dh gets annoyed if I spend much time at the computer. Maybe this means I will actually get the house cleaned, the Christmas letter written, envelopes addressed…. What?? I can dream, can’t I?

If you are celebrating American Thanksgiving, I wish you a wonderful holiday. For my Canadian friends, why not go for round two? We have so much to be thankful for. πŸ˜‰

I’ll miss you when I’m absent from the computer, but family needs come first!

  1. I run into a few IRL friends too every so often and they will comment, “Hey, I read your blog on so and so and laughed!” Etc.

It shocks me a little because, I too, forget!

[Sometimes it hits me, “What did I say?”]

  2. i think i might take the rest of the week off too. just to have an excuse for a break, ya know?

  3. alright, have a good one!

  4. KC.. that’s a long thawing time for a 12 lb bird. It’s probably a good idea to rinse away any liquid that it’s sitting in so that it stays freshest. That’s the part that could go bad first.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.. and have a glass of wine for me! πŸ™‚

  5. Why do the real life friends refuse to comment?! Drives me nuts.

    Have a great holiday.

  6. Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy your family.

  7. You sound exactly like the KC I know!

    The silver is polished!!!!!!!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  8. Oooh, I think Jenn & I together might have caused a de-lurking!

Happy Thanksgiving, Carol! (I had to edit the name…for all the crazies of us out here in the internet, haha)

  9. I have to agree about it driving me nuts when RL friends don’t comment. They say it’s because they feel weird because they don’t have a blog. Lame!

  10. Hilary – the turkey was fine. πŸ™‚
    Everyone is healthy today!

  11. heh, several of my friends definitely stay in better touch w/me through my blog… i’m terrible at staying in touch through the normal channels. it’s still kind of funny to get an email saying “i saw your new haircut on your blog the other day!” πŸ™‚

  12. So happy to see that others get annoyed over RL friends who won’t comment on the blog!

  13. I don’t get annoyed…I am just always surprised when someone comments via e-mail because I forget that I told them about the blog…or I had no idea they were reading regularly.
A few of my RL friends tell me they read me on a regular basis, so I already know they are reading. πŸ˜‰
