WWC #78: “N” / Orange

Today’s word is LAME. I had these incredible ideas… but that is where it ended. Just ideas. No action. Like I said, LAME.

Anyhoo. I can’t bear to NOT post for the WWC, so here are my archival entries for this week:

ORANGE October leaves

You wanna know what I planned on shooting? Naval Oranges. But hey, that would involve going to the store. With a camera. Like I said, I’m feeling shamefully LAME, because? Really! That shouldn’t be so very hard to accomplish.
But hey! I have my 2nd sleep study scheduled for Friday night and maybe they will give me a tool to allow me a decent night’s sleep and pump me full of ENERGY!! Wouldn’t that be exciting? I think so.

The ‘me’ Mosaic (Or, making myself artistic through other people’s photographs)

mosaic1457324

How It Works:

a. Type your answer to each of the questions below into Flickr Search (http://www.flickr.com/).
b. Using ONLY the first page, pick an image.
c. Copy and paste each of the URLs for the images into Mosaic Maker. Change rows to 3 and columns to 3 (http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/mosaic.php).
d. Save the image and post it on your blog.

The Questions:

1. What is your first name?
2. What is your favorite food?
3. What is your favorite color?
4. Favorite drink?
5. Dream vacation?
6. Favorite hobby?
7. What you want to be when you grow up?
8. What do you love most in life?
9. One word to describe you?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I saw this over at Living In The Frat House and thought I’d give it a try.
I chose to not give you the words to my answers – only in pictures. When you make your own mosaic, you can chose to give your answers in words as well as pictures.
Enjoy and let me know what your mosaic looks like!
Happy Birthday to Jenn!
She juggles life and she’s 45 today – head on over to her blog  and wish her a happy birthday!
Modern Impatience
Go ahead and watch this video that I “found” — Compliments of Suburban Correspondent
And… that’s all I’ve got for you. I’m still fighting a bad cough, sick of being sick. I’m days –DAYS, people!– behind in checking blogs and I worry that I won’t catch up for weeks.
Sometimes Real Life takes too much time away from blogging. (ha!!)
WWC #77: Black and Natural World, and a little bit of drink (Thematic Photographic #41)
Once again, I am blending 2 different photography assignments. Call it lame or call it talent — what matters to me is that I completed both assignments!
Today’s drink options*: ReaLemon juice [a few drops are pleasing in a glass of water or a whiskey sour], orange juice concentrate (because apparently? I am the only one capable of mixing it into a pitcher!), Crystal Light lemonade, milk, and my own personal bottles of “lemonade-flavored water.”
I mix up a package of Crystal Light lemonade and pour a few ounces into an empty water bottle, then fill the rest with tap water.
*Selective vision options: If you are one of my children, you would open this door and see only a jug of milk and a pitcher of lemonade.
Drink is this past week’s theme with Thematic Photographic, hosted by Carmi at Written, Inc.
Slowly Springtime, and a peek at the kitchen
The weather has been a bit of a tease this year.  We had a really warm weekend a couple of weeks ago, and the bulbed flowers poked up through the dirt.  Then the weather turned cold and heartless once again, and everything just kind of … stopped.  We’ve been lucky to climb into the upper 40’s.  Until today.  Today we are supposed to reach the upper 60’s or maybe even 70 F.
But this is what I could find in my yard yesterday for my Northerner friends (you all know who you are).
Truly, Springtime is coming!
2009-march-sedum
This sedum lines my walk, from the driveway up to the front flower beds.  In another week or two I’ll start snapping off the old growth from last year, but for now I let it protect the new growth.  By September it will be looking long and scraggly and making me think I need to rip it all out… but in March and April it is oh-so-pretty and green.
2009-march-daffodil-001
We have a lot of daffodils, but they won’t be in full bloom for a while yet.  In fact, almost all of them look like the photograph above.
Except for this one bunch hidden below a scrubby tree (I suppose it was sheltered from the last light freeze)  — it has 2 blooms trying their darndest to open, and one bloom that has succeeded:
Tree blossoms on this tree are closed up tightly, waiting for just the right moment to open.
But these tiny red blooms and leaves are the first to open (I might crop this into my header – what do you think?)
Need more green?  This was our St. Patrick’s Day supper:
Potato Soup, various greens, homemade bread, and pork chops.  Yes, the milk was green.  And yes, that is SuperDad’s Guinness.
Thematic Photographic is hosted by Carmi. Carmi posts a new theme each Wednesday and we get the whole week to post as little or as many times as we wish. This week’s theme has been KITCHEN…. and this will be my one and only lame submission.
Kitchen Wallpaper, before last summer
Kitchen Wallpaper, before last summer
SWEET!!  my kitchen wall
SWEET!! my kitchen wall after the wallpaper was laboriously removed and primer & paint applied. I am so happy when I look at my pretty walls now!
I don’t have any current photos to post, because that would mean I had actually deep-cleaned my kitchen.   Instead, I’ve spent the past 2 weeks fighting  an illness [cough, hack, cough] continues to hang on.   I’m S-L-O-W-L-Y improving, but as I posted on facebook (a.k.a., the biggest timesuck  on the internet), I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired.
WWC #76: 1 Diamond
symbol of permanent commitment
symbol of permanent commitment
My ring started out with just 1 diamond on a slim engagement band. Then we added a wedding band. And about 10 years later, my husband gifted me with the wrap.
Take a hike!
Last month, SuperDad chose a hike for our Valentines Day date.
SnakeMaster joyfully accompanied us.
and the rich layers of green lichen on these rocks.
I know I annoyed SuperDad with my constant halting on the trail to take photos, but at least there were worthwhile places for him to stop and gaze around.
