We recently spent a week with my side of the family (SuperDad had to stay home and work). Can you imagine the fun of 17 people sharing a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom cottage for 3 days? I just now called it a cottage here, but we actually call it “the island house.” My SIL’s grandfather built it as his retirement home. It sits on a bluff over a rocky beach with a gorgeous view of the Olympic Mountains. At the base of the beach stairway is a firepit, and when the tide is low, you can walk quite a way out into the bay.
We were there to celebrate my mother’s 70th birthday (which actually occurred in February). She hired a photographer friend to come out and spend the afternoon with us and take photographs. It’s a good thing he has another job as a middle school counselor, because there were three 8th grade boys in our mix!
Our last full day with everyone (minus SuperDad) together was spent at Fort Casey on Whidbey Island. This was a favorite place to run about when I was a kid (bring flashlights for the bunkers) and now my kids and their cousins enjoy spending the day here.
Tomorrow I’ll post the last of my vacation series. It’s good to be back, but I am still catching up and recovering. Yes, vacation is hard work!
If there is a particular photo that was too small for you to see properly in collage form, that you want to see in regular size, let me know and I’ll oblige on Monday.
Tuesday will be the Weekly Words Challenge (and I’ll probably use a few of my vacation photos).
