I was beginning to think it would never happen. It had been such a terribly long time. But today, for the first time since the end of the 2003 season, the University of Washington beat a ranked team from a BCS conference. Back then, it was Purple Reign over the Washington State Cougars in the Apple Cup. But last night was even sweeter than a cross-state rivalry win, because the UW Huskies beat the USC Trojans …who just so happen to have been ranked 3rd… although not anymore… 😛
Ah, yes, there is joy in Mudville tonight.
When I hear sports talk, it kind of sounds like Charlie Brown’s teachers did in the old Peanuts cartoons. You know “Wah wah wahhhhh wah wah wah!” But if you’re happy, then I’m happy for you. 🙂
Yay! Hey, you know we’re moving to Friday Harbor, right? Amoeba will be teaching at Friday Harbor Laboratories.

hoho! USC?
Yeah, I love to gloat. USC is the team I love to hate. There, I said it!
Well! Congrtulations!
I saw “UW” and was excited for a minute, but then realized that you are referring to Washington, not Wisconsin.
Just the same, I’m glad that your UW is doing well. 😉
Jodi, does it help if I sing this? “On Wisconsin, on Wisconsin, fight on Badgers, fight!” (I was born there; it’s in my blood.)
I always enjoy it when there is joy in mudville.
that was the BEST game of the weekend…hands down…perfect…i almost found myself wishing to be back in college at u of w just to partake in all the victory parties…then i realized i am married and old and that just would not do!
There’s joy here in Bruin country, too!
