It happens every year

I’d show you pictures, but that would take time I don’t have right now, so I’ll just make a short list:
1. fudge supplies still on counter – unused
2. first batches of cookies eaten, so…
3. need to make more cookies
4. most Christmas cards still in larval stages
5. higher numbers on the bathroom scale (see #2)

SOMEDAY I’ll actually have my act together.

  1. I have to admit that I’ve given up on some of these things in favor of things that I (or we) would rather do. For instance, I don’t send cards, but I do get together with the special someones or send them a heartfelt hello via email.

Having your act together is over rated. 😉

    • Trust me, all that is on my list are things I WANT to do! Well, not the weight gain… I was hoping that would be a negative number, not a positive one.

  2. I don’t think I can look at another cookie for at least a week.

I will, however, have a piece of my ginger cake served a la mode with homemade caramel topping tonight (dinner guests). I wouldn’t want my system to go into complete sugar withdrawal!

  3. I was thinking about this today too. I decided. hey, I yam what I yam.

  4. I’m finding myself having to choose between belated cookie-making for care/Christmas packages to farflung relations and our annual New Year’s Day Open House. There’s no way both will happen this week.

  5. This is all because you are super stretched, over-committed, and over-achiever who gets very little sleep.

But, you love your life — though, it would be a little easier with another body of estrogen within the house.

    [FW horoscope for you] 😀

  6. Oh I have several deserts that did NOT get made! Dennis will be in “pig heaven” for a long time! Our Christmas was just… INSANE – what’s new?!

The important part is…. you had fun! Right? You DID have fun didn’t you????

  7. I’m with you! I feel proud that I managed to send 4 Christmas cards.

I cooked a great Christmas dinner, but I think I didn’t bother to shower.

  8. Yeah, but if you ever get your act together, you will have probably given up all the fun to do so. It’s better this way!

  9. “SOMEDAY I’ll actually have my act together. ”

But THEN what would you do? 😉

  10. It’s not just you. I had a post with the exact same title last year. And the situation is the same again this year. I have hereby declared the tradition of baking New Year’s Cookies. 🙂
